Building a company internet page or blog post message in a clear and concise fashion is of course essential to attracting internet traffic. However it is also important to arrange your content in such a way as to communicate to the search engines, what the site really is about. Search engines look for page titles, header tags and anchor links that are consistent with one another and relate to the topic your page is about, so consistency is the main idea to setting up your page.

What is the best or most SEO-Friendly way to compose the page? Keywords are naturally the most important element and should be used in consistent form in the title, headlines, text and if possible – the page URL. Assembling these keywords and phrases into a cohesive and understandable page may seem more difficult that it may appear. However a consistent use of keywords can greatly help the search engines understand the content of your page.

First, consider the keywords you’ve chosen and develop a strategy to use them in the title, headlines and text. Creating content using these keywords in a way that doesn’t confuse the reader or seem awkward when read can be a challenge. But using keywords properly is a ‘must’ so here are a few tips.

Setting the Title Setting the title tags is a simple matter since less attention has to be paid to proper grammar and language construction. Using a keyword or keyword phrase rather than the name of your organization is a ‘must’ though. Many first time optimizers set the title of the page to the company name without understanding that unless you want to attract the attention of users that already know your company name; the page title needs to use the keywords rather than a name.

Give some attention here to geographic location. If your target market is located in a single area, include the name of that area in your title, headlines and text. A retailer selling surfboards in Dallas might title his page something like “surfboards in Dallas” to attract surfers looking to buy such a thing in central Texas.

Setting the Headlines – Making the headlines or the text contained within the ‘h’ tags consistent with the title is also important. These should use the same keywords and if possible, they should be in the same order. This is important to establish prior to designing your page because some headlines won’t fit nicely into certain tabbed page designs.

In the end, though, content is what the search engines are really interested in. Page content focusing on the topic advertised in the header and title assures the search engines that the page conveys content regarding the topic. However, the search engine robots are only software systems and can’t actually distill or intellectually process any of this information. It is usually necessary then to include the chosen keywords within the content or text of the page.

Use the bold or ‘b’ tags around instances where your keywords and phrases appear within the page text. These call a little extra attention to the phrase. When the engines come through and analyze the page content, headlines and titles and find your keyword phrases present in each area, they will be fairly confident that your page relates to the topic described by your keywords.

Content Style – After coming up with a basic page design and keyword plan, you are ready to install your text. Writing for internet readers is just a matter of keeping a conversational tone to your composition, so it is important to avoid overuse of keywords or keyword phases. Search Engines are also on watch for overuse as well. Still, it can be challenging to work in keyword phrases to the text, so you will need a bit of creativity to make this seem conversational.

A provider of industral floor surfacing service in Chicago using the keyword term “Epoxy Flooring” might then use a sentence such as “Epoxy Flooring providers in Chicago are aware that….” A Phoenix company that installs residential sprinkler systems might have hit upon a keyword phrase like “lawn irrigation in Phoenix.” This company would then be able to use a sentence similar to “Lawn irrigation companies in Phoenix know that..” Using bold tags to highlight the keywords within these sentences then allows the search engines to note the presence of the keywords in the text.

These easy guidelines for “on-page” optimization can offer easy ways to improve your search engine ranking and are important before beginning any “off-page” blogging or article marketing work.
